Their situations are actually being documented in anticipation of an intervention by family and/or friends. The producers usually follow up months later to monitor the addicted person's progress and film it for 'follow-up' episodes of the series or for shorter 'web updates' available on the show's website. As of June 23, 2010 a total of 117 episodes and 10 specials have aired. Most episodes are available individually on DVD from A&E's website. Epilogue: Travis immediately walked out of the intervention, but later decided to accept the offer of treatment. After completing his program, he moved to Utah and began traveling and playing music. He suffered a brief relapse, but regained sobriety in September 2005 and maintained it until September 2007, when he had another relapse; he has since stayed sober. Yoga for Weight Loss morning and black routine

This routine is short but yet effective for those who have limited time in the mornings or evenings. Try to do it 5 times a week, and eat more fresh vegetables, fruit and whole grains. Please note that as we are all different, therefore each of us has different body shapes. The aim for this routine is to maintain a healthy weight, and feel good about ourselves inside out. Modern life can be stressful and sometimes it is hard to find time to relax. It would be a good idea to start the day with some positive thoughts and keep on smiling :-) Start with: Inhale exhale palms together Inhale, stretch your arms up Exhale fold 1. Hold at the plank position for a bit longer, it is very good for strengthening the abdominal muscles and toing up the whole body. 2. Inhale Cobra 3. Exhale Downward Dog 4. Now inhale and try to lift your leg up to the downward dog splits. 5. Lower the forearms down on the floor, this is good for toning the arms 6. The tiger pose: Inhale while stretching the leg backward. 7. Exhale while swinging the knee to the chest. This pose reduces the weight from the hips and tights. 8. Rest in child pose for a moment 9. The Locust: It strengthens and tones the abdomen, lower back and legs. Inhale one leg up and use the other foot to support. Breathe deeply. Exhale Lower, then repeat on the other side. 10. A superb alkaline diet recipe should contain tomatoes, coriander and okra. This is at best a summer time dish and does not take much time or stress to prepare. It is a lip smacking Mediterranean dish that requires ingredients like: black pepper, Celtic sea salt, a single lemon juice, lightly grated rind, 3 garlic cloves crushed, 2 tsp. coriander seeds crushed, 2 onions thinly sliced, 3 tbsp. olive oil, 450g fresh okra, and 400g can chopped tomatoes. Celtic sea salt and black pepper are simply meant to provide a finishing touch to the diet.

You may need to be acquainted with the cooking process. Transfer oil into your cooking pan. Add onions and coriander. Before the pan gets hot enough, make sure the okra has been cut. Do not allow the onions become too soft while frying. Timing is to be taken seriously.

It is now time for tomatoes to be added, stirred after. Allow the mixture 20 minutes of cooking before topping it with lemon rind, pepper and salt. Give it another short period of cooking before bring down the pan.

Margarita is another alkaline diet recipe, though a juice. With a lemon, a cucumber, fresh root ginger and 4 celery stalks, you can make two margaritas. You will also need to add Himalayan salt as a finishing touch. If you cannot lay hands on Himalayan salt you can make do with regular salt, only that when it comes to preparing margaritas, the former is the best. After all is done, proceed to have a taste to know what it really is in the mouth. You may need to add some more ginger if you so desired.

How To Diet: What Is A Fad Diet, And Are They Dangerous?

What is a fad diet anyway?

A fad diet is one that is popular for a period of time and often makes promises of extreme weight loss in a very short period of time. Often the fad diets are based on faulty nutritional principles and cannot work; other fad diets are downright dangerous. And they are surely not recognized by the FDA.

Some of the fad diets which have been "the rage" over the past few decades include:

• The 7-day Grapefruit Diet

• The Pineapple and Tuna diet

• The Maple Syrup Lemon Cleanse Diet

• The Chocolate diet

• The Tapeworm Diet (yuk!)

• The Cabbage Soup Diet

And, on and on it goes. Most fad diets come onto the radar because a Hollywood celebrity begins touting them. The star makes the talk show circuit, looking fabulous of course, and the rest of us jump onto the band wagon.

Never mind that the celebrity in question has a few advantages over us "mere mortals". They're usually paid for their endorsement, they have access to the finest makeup artists in the world, and they use personal trainers on the side. Makes a tapeworm look even less appealing, doesn't it?

So, what are the downsides of fad diets? Let's look at some examples from the past to get a flavor of what's wrong with them:

1. The Dukan is a bad diet because it relies on cutting out whole food groups and then slowly adding them back. It is never wise to cut out foods that have been established to be nutritionally necessary for health.

2. The Paleo diet: Oh good! Let's eat like a caveman... root veggies, shellfish, eggs, spices, fruits. Pass a mouse, please.

3. The HCG diet requires hormone injections along with a calorie restriction of between 500 and 700 per day. Well, of course you're going to lose weight if you eat 600 calories per day. You might just as well skip the hormones.

The Upside

If you're looking for a quick weight loss fix, then the Special K diet is a good option. This diet is designed to make you lose up to 6 lbs in 2 weeks. If you follow it strictly, you may be able to slip into jeans that are a size smaller or lose the extra weight you gained over the holidays. This could also be a starting point to ease into a healthier lifestyle. Another good thing about it is that it is not too restrictive. You can still enjoy snacks and your usual beverage choices. When no amount of diet control or exercise regimen helps, women turn towards the popular and much advertised diet pills. However, different diet pills work in different ways and the fact that a pill worked magically for your friend dosen't necessarily mean that it will work for you. To know, which is the right one to suit your ody type, you have to first get aquainted with the various ways in which these pills work.

There are three categories of weight loss supplements:

Calorie Burners: These contain stimulants, so they temporarily increase your metabolism and make you burn more calories. But they also often increase your heart rate, blood pressure, and anxiety. Commonly, the effective ingredient in these aids is caffeine, green tea, guarana, or the most dangerous one, the "natural herbal" option called ma huang or ephedra. However, there are certainly women who have successfully lost weight with ephedra or ma huang without serious side effects.

Appetite Suppressants: These include many of the calorie burning stimulants listed above, along with Citrimax (fruit from Garcinia cambogia) and CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid). Studies show that Citrimax appears to be a safe choice and suppresses appetite in some women, and may help the user to not regain weight. CLA also appears safe and may or may not be helpful. Many of the prescription weight loss drugs, like Redux, Phen-Phen, Meridia, and Buproprion (or Wellbutrin) operate by decreasing the appetite. But some are linked to serious side effects (such as Phen-Phen and heart valve damage). In general, maximum weight loss usually occurs within six months of using appetite suppressants. Clinical studies suggest that if a patient does not lose at least 4 pounds over 4 weeks on a particular appetite suppressant, then the particular diet pill is unlikely to help the patient achieve any significant weight loss.

Absorption Blockers: These products block your intestine from absorbing either carbohydrates (Carbo Blockers) or fats (Chitosan), so that more of what goes in comes out. Carbo blockers are often made from soybeans or white kidney beans, which sound safe. But studies have shown a loss of copper and zinc from the body, and no proven weight loss. Plus, if it does work by carrying the fat out "with the trash," it also may take along the fat-soluble vitamins you just ate (such as vitamins A, D, E and K).

You can chose any of the above options, but the universal truth remains that any type of diet pill works best when coupled with exercise and healthy eating habits. Generally, weight loss does not happen as easily or quickly as many of the diet aid companies imply. The fact that a weight loss pill is sold over-the-counter does not ensure that it is safe for everyone. Because they are considered "nutritional supplements," the FDA does not test most of these products, so you cannot be certain that what the label says is what is in the bottle! Plus, the claim that a diet aid is "all natural" or "herbal" is not a guarantee of safety. The last word of caution says that women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not use diet aids.
